If it's integral to a mission, then it matters. If it relates to me, then it matters. Hell, even then, it might not be important. Whether someone believes they're a video game character or a cat or a ghost or whatever doesn't hold any power over me and won't affect me in any way.

But someone who can control the world's entire armed forces with the snap of his fingers will.
